4月3日，開(kāi)發(fā)商Mozilla發(fā)布了新版火狐瀏覽器，但不是為電腦和手機(jī)設(shè)計(jì)，而是專為虛擬現(xiàn)實(shí)（VR）頭盔量身定制。

Mozilla負(fù)責(zé)新技術(shù)的高級(jí)副總西恩·懷特在發(fā)布新版瀏覽器的博客文章中寫道：“混合現(xiàn)實(shí)的未來(lái)主要是提供體驗(yàn)，而不是開(kāi)發(fā)應(yīng)用。不同體驗(yàn)之間的轉(zhuǎn)換不應(yīng)卡頓?；鸷鞘卓顑?nèi)置WebVR的瀏覽器，WebVR是通過(guò)網(wǎng)頁(yè)URL網(wǎng)址分享和享受虛擬現(xiàn)實(shí)內(nèi)容的公開(kāi)標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。基于這項(xiàng)標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，人們打造及提供沉浸式體驗(yàn)可以像點(diǎn)開(kāi)網(wǎng)頁(yè)一樣簡(jiǎn)單?！?

Mozilla全新研發(fā)的這款新版瀏覽器名為“火狐現(xiàn)實(shí)”，專門支持虛擬現(xiàn)實(shí)和增強(qiáng)現(xiàn)實(shí)頭盔。瀏覽器結(jié)合了火狐現(xiàn)有網(wǎng)頁(yè)技術(shù)與實(shí)驗(yàn)性的網(wǎng)頁(yè)瀏覽器引擎Servo。

目前新版瀏覽器還沒(méi)有正式推廣。

和火狐桌面瀏覽器一樣，火狐現(xiàn)實(shí)也是開(kāi)源的。在初步開(kāi)發(fā)階段，瀏覽器的源代碼將在谷歌虛擬現(xiàn)實(shí)設(shè)備Daydream和三星設(shè)備GearVR上以開(kāi)發(fā)模式運(yùn)行。（財(cái)富中文網(wǎng)）

Mozilla unveiled a new version of its popular Firefox web browser today, but instead of being on your computer or mobile phone it’s designed to be used with a virtual reality headset.

“The future of mixed reality is about delivering experiences, not about building applications. There shouldn’t be friction moving from one experience to another,” Sean White, Senior Vice President, Emerging Technologies said in a blog post announcing the browser. “Firefox was the first browser to implement WebVR – an open standard for sharing and enjoying virtual reality content through a web URL. This lays the groundwork for creating and delivering immersive experiences using a method that is as simple as opening a web page.”

Called Firefox Reality, the browser was created from the ground up to be used with stand-alone virtual reality and augmented reality headsets. It was built using Firefox’s existing web technology combined with Servo, its experimental web engine.

For now, it’s not available to the public.

Just like Firefox’s desktop browser, Firefox Reality is open source. During its initial development period, the source code for the browser will run in development mode on the Daydream and GearVR devices.
